Beautiful Lengths

I am always proud to call Adam my husband, but today really proves why!
Throughout the past few weeks, Adam has been debating whether he wanted to cut his hair for Pantene Beautiful Lengths, or if he wanted to keep growing it out for Locks of Love. Both of these organizations make wigs for people who have lost their hair due to chemo and other health related issues. These organizations are near and dear to our hearts since we have both had family members to fight cancer!
Well today, he finally made his decision! I received a text message asking if I wanted to cut his hair tonight! I told him that I would love to do it ;) so when I got home, we set to work.
Step 1: Straighten those curly locks!!
It's sad when your husband has prettier hair than you! HAHA
Step 2: Make multiple ponytails! (This was so fun for me)
Isn't he a cutie? :)
Step 3: Set Up the Barber Shop & Cut Ponytails!
Not sure who's more nervous!!
First Cut
One Ponytail Left
Step 4: Clean it Up
Wow... This scared me!
Bye Bye Long Hair
He was scared I messed it up!
I honestly don't know if I like short or long better!!
Step 5: Send it off~ Adam is donating his hair to Pantene Beautiful Lengths in memory of his grandmother who passed away in October after a battle with cancer! This is why I am so proud!
If you would like more information on either of these organizations, here are their websites:

Friends, Food, and Football

Just like all other Alabamians, we jumped at the chance to cook some great food, spend time with some of our best friends, and watch a little football last night! Even though we severely dislike both of the teams that were playing we had a fun time! Our friends Laura and Gardner came over to watch the game with us! I always love when Laura comes to town because that means I won't be the only girl hanging with the guys!

We allowed ourselves to cheat on our eating healthy kick because the food we wanted to cook was so good! Gardner brought some sausage to grill for an appetizer, and it was fantastic!! We had some of Adam's mom's jambalaya, chicken and sausage gumbo, rice, and fried gator!! I completely enjoyed my night, because it was the hubby's turn to cook!! Man was it GOOD!!!! We had a little snafu with the gator at first, but Adam remedied it to perfection!! I can't wait to sneak a little snack later!!

I love how patient my friends and hubby are with me, because the whole time they were there, I was constantly working on school stuff.(Oh the life of a teacher) Good thing I'm a good multi-tasker! Haha! I decided to go to bed when I knew the game was going to have the most unfortunate ending (WAR EAGLE). Although the game didn't end the way we wanted, the night turned out just how we had planned! Well I'm off to workout! (No cheating today)!!

New Year, Healthy Year

Hey guys! I decided to start blogging about my adventures in wifehood (is that even a word?). I am a newlywed (married in September 2011), and I am having a ball so far being a wife! It's definitely not an easy job, but it has been fun :)
A little background about me: I am from a small town in Alabama, so I am just a down home southern girl! A few of my favorite things are Auburn University, dancing, reading chick lit (Nicholas Sparks is the best), and vacationing!!! I am a Kindergarten teacher in Phenix City, Al, and this is my second year teaching.
My husband Adam and I met in 2006, and started dating in 2008. He asked me to marry him on our 3 year anniversary and we tied the knot nine months later in Destin, FL!
Our New Year's resolution for 2012 was to start eating healthier and exercise more (pretty original I know!!), so I decided blogging would be a great a great way to keep up with what we're doing. So far we have been doing really good on our goals! I have gone seven days without a Coke so far, and for those who know me, you know it is a huge feat for me!!
Tonight we are having Healthified Garlic Shrimp Pasta(link at bottom). Thanks Betty Crocker!! haha! Hopefully it will turn out well!! I'm off to the kitchen! Hope everyone has a great night!!
